VfL Wolfsburg’s preparations for the 2024/25 season continue to take shape. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side will take on second-division Hannover 96 in another friendly on Saturday 27 July, just a few days before their training camp in Schladming, Austria, from 1 to 9 August. Kick-off at the Eilenriedestadion in Hanover is at 15:30 CEST.

U19s qualify for play-offs courtesy of win over PSG

The goals in a highly interesting youth match played in front of 1,220 spectators were scored by Samuel Bamba (12) and second-half substitute Vincenzo Onofrietti (77). PSG midfielder Ibrahim Mbayé had been sent off for a rough challenge on Rafael Lubach in the 41st minute.

FC Augsburg

Demirović, Vargas & Co.: FCA players on international duty

Ruben Vargas and Kevin Mbabu are both in Switzerland’s extended squad for the upcoming European Championships in Germany. They are currently preparing for the tournament and the final squad will be named on 7th June. Both FCA have been called up for the friendlies against Estonia on 4th June and Austria on 8th June.

Arne Engels is also with the Belgium senior national team for their training camp. The Red Devils are set to prepare for the looming Euros with two games against Montenegro (5th June) and Luxembourg (8th June). 

FCA captain Ermedin Demirović has been named in the Bosnia & Herzegovina squad for their friendlies against England on 3rd June in Newcastle and Italy on 9th June. The Bosnians narrowly missed out on qualification for the Euros, but they will be back in competitive action when the Nations League begins in September.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s solid goal-scoring run earlier this season before Julian Nagelsmann was sacked was rather unexpected, but a welcomed surprise nonetheless for a team that had just lost Robert Lewandowski in the previous summer’s transfer window. Bringing in Sadio Mane from Liverpool wasn’t exactly the defacto solution to supplement all of the goals that would be lost with no longer having Lewandowski.

Benjamin Uphoff to depart SC Freiburg

Uphoff’s other clubs in his professional career include VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Nürnberg. The shot-stopper played a total of 113 games in the 3. Liga and Regionalliga for these two sides.
