Cologne occupy 11th position in the table and have not dropped below 13th place at any stage of the season, with the vast majority of the campaign spent in mid-table. Following their surprising qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, the management would have certainly settled for a quiet season.

”Luca had a late development as a youth player, but then his progress was all the more rapid. His progression to playing in goal for the Germany U21 team is a testament to the outstanding goalkeeping training at TSG,” says Alexander Rosen, director of football at TSG Hoffenheim. ”Luca has a huge desire to learn, he’s hard-working and he’s talented. Since the beginning of last year he’s established himself as the number two behind Oliver Bauman. Regardless of that, there are open discussions taking place between us and his inner-circle to decide whether a loan might make sense at the end of this season to give him more playing time at as high a level as possible.”

His contract extension is a show of trust from both sides that is definitely not an everyday occurrence in this business,” said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen. “It brings great joy to see him consistently on the pitch this season after several health setbacks in the past. With his strong mindedness and tough tackling in addition to his great footballing qualities, he has increasingly developed into a leading player in our team recently. Due to the large number of visitors to the stadium and the high volume of traffic, TSG Hoffenheim recommend arriving early and using public transport. Additional buses will run to the PreZero Arena on Saturday. A shuttle service will take visitors from Sinsheim/Elsenz railway station to the stadium and back again. There will also be a shuttle service on various routes. The buses will be available at the bus terminal (P9) for the return journey. TSG Hoffenheim have collected ten points from their last four games. Having gone 14 league games without a win before that, Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team have succeeded in reversing that trend, with the 1-1 (0-1) draw away to Bayern Munich once again demonstrating the team’s strength of character. TSG’s confidence continues to grow thanks to the hard and effective work in individual duels on the pitch – and also thanks to a stroke of genius from Andrej Kramarić. “The preparation was very good, but we couldn’t get it going on the pitch,” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel after the 1-1 draw with TSG Hoffenheim. The fact that the league leaders were not satisfied with their performance in the home game against TSG was mainly due to the passionate and determined showing from Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team. After three wins against Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen and Schalke 04, Hoffenheim remained unbeaten for a fourth consecutive game, putting TSG into a good position for the rest of the season. With 29 points, TSG are currently 13th in the table, five points ahead of VfB Stuttgart in 16th.
