Draw to end pre-season camp in Austria

The La Liga outfit were more active and were providing problems for FC. While Muriqi headed wide of the mark after another good delivery, it would prove to be third time lucky for the Spaniards. Win and a defeat to start pre-season

The first game saw Steffen Baumgart’s side take on Hannover 96, who are just two weeks away from the start of the 2. Bundesliga season. Two new signings start the game as Jacob Christensen and Luca Waldschmidt got their first run-out in FC colours. It also so happened to be the debut of FC’s new away strip.

FC extend with Timo Hübers

Urbig extends and loaned to Fürth

Part of Jonas Urbig’s development plan is to give the goalkeeping talent as much game time as possible at the highest level. During the Winter Break, FC loaned out Urbig to Jahn Regensburg. The Euskirchen-born goalkeeper was immediately first-choice goalkeeper and featured in all 17 games of the Rückrunde. Unfortunately, he was unable to prevent relegation to the third tier but was voted by the fans as Player of the Season.

New away kit now available

To mark the 100-year anniversary of the Danish kit supplier hummel, the design of the away kit looks back on the Danish national team strip from 1986. This was also leaned on the pinstripe look with the colours separating the two sides of the kits. The strip will also be worn by three Danish-born players: Kristian Pedersen, Mathias Olesen and Jacob Christensen.

Davie Selke extends until 2026

FC Managing Director Christian Keller said: “Davie doesn’t just fit in well as a player but also as a person to FC, to how we play and to our values. He goes forward on and off the pitch and knows that he still hasn’t reached the end of his path. That makes you want more, and the contract extension ahead of time is the right consequence of that. We are really pleased that Davie has gone with us and wants to continue that path for the long term.”

FC loan Lemperle to Fürth

In February 2023, FC extended Lemperle’s contract until 30th June 2025. Part of the discussions at that point in Tim was a plan for the striker to gain game time at a high level. This opportunity has now came about with the loan to SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Christensen joins FC

FC Managing Director, Christian Keller said: “On the one hand, Jacob Christensen a very young player but, on the other hand, possesses the experience of over 150 professional matches. Not just because of that, but also because of his technical ability and his skill in dictating the build-up, we believe that he can make the step to the Bundesliga. First and foremost, Jacob will have to get used to the high intensity here. Our coaching staff will prepare him as well as possible for that.”
