Gregor Kobel: “We showed a super spirit today and put up a real fight. But we gave away lots of chances. However, we will carry forward the momentum; we’ve done superbly in terms of points recently. In terms of quality, we belong at the top. It was a bit tense today; we need to do several things better. But we fought superbly and have won twice in a row. We wanted to start a run, now we need to keep going. I want to keep as cool as possible, there’s also been an element of luck in our games. I always try to improve.”
Creative: Borussia have scored 19 of their 20 goals this season from open play (only one set-piece goal).
Edin Terzic (to Sky): “It was a real fight; we got a large portion of luck. It was an important and amazing win. It was intense, but not the perfect football. We didn’t have many chances to score but we took them. The three points were important today.”
“Cologne are an unpleasant opponent. They play with great commitment and celebrate every challenge they win,” said U19 head coach Mike Tullberg of Viktoria Cologne, who occupy seventh spot in the table with nine points from six matches and already proved themselves to be a huge nuisance to Borussia in last season’s 0-0 draw. More hard work lies ahead of captain Nnamdi Collins & Co., who came from behind in style to draw 3-3 with Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League in midweek.

At present, Borussia Dortmund are used to playing matches every three or four days. On Tuesday, they secured qualification to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League thanks to a 0-0 draw with Manchester City. The final match of their group-stage campaign will come in Copenhagen next week, though it will have no implications whatsoever on qualification from Group G. Between the two games, there is a real highlight on the agenda: the Black & Yellows are away to Eintracht Frankfurt. “This is not new for us. We knew that we’d often have such spells this season. We’re not alone in this respect,” said BVB coach Edin Terzic in reference to the number of games. Frankfurt have been in UCL action too: having beaten Marseille 2-1 last time out, the Hesse outfit will travel to Lisbon to face Sporting next week with a place in the knockout stages still at stake.
