Ondrej Duda leaves FC

FC Managing Director, Christian Keller said: “Ondrej came to us with the desire to move. This is something that we agreed to and has been realised with the loan to Hellas Verona. We wish Ondrej all the best for his time in Verona and hope he can help to do his bit and secure their safety in Serie A.”

Sascha Riether: Nobody demands the limelight

The last 12 months have been fairly eventful for Sascha Riether. The former player, who now acts as a coordinator between the players and the management, spoke about the previous year with schalke04.de. In the first part of the interview, the 36-year-old discussed a memorable phone call in the summer and his work with the coaching staff.

Maaßen: “We have to play with our chests puffed out”

“Mainz are very compact, defend well and can switch the play effectively. We will need our best performance to get anything from there,” said the 38-year-old ahead of the clash with the Zero-Fivers, who have bagged four points from their opening two fixtures. Nevertheless, Maaßen and his team are aiming for their first home win in what will be their third game of the season: “We have to play with our chests puffed out and believe that we can win back-to-back games.”

Eintracht Frankfurt

Souveräner Erfolg in Gladbach

SC hit 40 points this season with 2-0 win in Bochum

Head coach Christian Streich made just one change to the starting XI following last weekend’s 2-1 derby win against VfB Stuttgart. Roland Sallai was on the bench as Lucas Höler replaced him in attack, alongside Gregoritsch. Bochum were without Gerrit Holtmann (knee operation), who had been a thorn in Freiburg’s side when the two sides met earlier this season (1-0 win for SC).

Hertha Berlin

“So close to getting a win”

Sometimes talking post-match is about finding words when words are hard to find. This was the case after the game on Friday night against Mainz, as Hertha conceded late in injury time to draw the game 1-1. But, despite the finish to the game, all in all it was not too bad a performance. “We were so close to getting a win. In games like these we have to keep competing in challenges right until the end of the game so that the second balls do not fall to our opponent,” stated Jean-Paul Boëtius. Marvin Plattenhardt, meanwhile, explained his disappointment: “The late equaliser is obviously extremely hard to take. We didn’t have a hold of the game in the second half and lost the ball a lot when playing it forward.” herthabsc.com has summarised the initial reaction to the game against Mainz.

Caci rescues point at the death

It was a relatively scrappy affair at the MEWA ARENA on Friday evening when Mainz took on Sandro Schwarz’s Hertha BSC, but it certainly ended with a bang. It looked for all the world that the Zerofivers would fall to a defeat, but substitute Anthony Caci’s injury time strike rescued a point for Svensson’s side. Lucas Tousart gave the visitors the lead in what was a first half with very few chances. Hertha remained resolute throughout the contest and Mainz, who were missing the likes of Jonny Burkardt, lacked the fire power needed to break their opponents down.
