Čvančara’s Czechia qualify for EUROs

Tomáš Čvančara (Czechia) and Simon Walde (Germany U19) both picked up victories with their respective national teams on Sunday and Monday. Joe Scally’s USA reached the Nations League semi-finals despite defeat.

Tomáš Čvančara’s (photo: IMAGO/Slavek Ruta) Czechia secured second place in the European Championship qualifying Group E with a 3-0 home win over Moldova yesterday (Monday), thus handing them direct qualification for EURO 2024 in Germany. David Douděra, Tomáš Chorý and Tomáš Souček scored the goals. Čvančara did not appear.

USA

Despite defeat, Joe Scally’s USA reached the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League. After a 3-0 win in the first leg, the holders were beaten 2-1 in Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday night. Antonee Robinson put the USA ahead, but Reon Moore and Alvin Jones turned the match around in the hosts’ favour. Scally came on in the 42nd minute and earned his eighth international cap.

Germany U19

Simon Walde’s Germany U19 side recorded their second win in three days, with Walde coming on as a second-half substitute. Germany picked up a 2-1 victory in their second game against Norway in Marbella, Spain, thanks to two injury time goals from Medin Kojic and Tom Bischof. Walde and Germany U19 are now unbeaten in seven matches.
