Focus now turns to the Bundesliga after the triumph in the Supercup!
Leipzig’s Bundesliga campaign kicks off on Saturday (19th August, 15:30 CEST) with a trip to Leverkusen. The players took part in a public training session on Tuesday afternoon and Peter Gulasci was able to take part in some of the exercises. Benjamin Sesko worked individually.
Willi Orban also spoke to the media to discuss the session, the Supercup win and the upcoming challenge in Leverkusen.
Willi Orban on…
… today’s training
- “We all made good use of yesterday’s day off in order to recover and regenerate. We completed an intense session out on the pitch today and got the training week off to a good start. Today’s two sessions have put us on track to prepare well for the game in Leverkusen.”
… the Supercup success
- “It was an amazing success that we were all really happy about. We defended really well over the 90 minutes, we all worked hard and our counter-attacks worked really well. We’re happy that we took home the trophy but we know that this success doesn’t give us any advantage over Leverkusen.”
… the upcoming match vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen
- “An away game in Leverkusen is one of the most difficult starts to a season you can have. They have strengthened really well this summer with some good signings. They have signed a player with lots of experience in Granit Xhaka. Their new striker VictorBoniface is also a physical player who we need to look out for.
We know that we have to prepare really well for the game. We want to go there and pick up all three points if possible.”
