Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he’s not seen “as big a roasting” for “a long time” after Kaoru Mitoma dominated Gunners defender Ben White on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side were blown away by Brighton in the second half at the Emirates Stadium with goals from Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan inflicting .

That result means Manchester City will now be crowned Premier League champions if Arsenal lose to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, while City will win the title whatever the Gunners do if they beat Chelsea on Sunday.

Arsenal had led the Premier League standings for most of the season before their recent poor form saw Man City overtake them.

Wright gave lots of credit to Brighton on Sunday but the Arsenal legend was shocked at the “roasting” White – who has had a good season for the Gunners – was given by Mitoma.

“Arsenal have known what they needed to do for several weeks now but the Brighton game always looked like a potential banana skin,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“The way Brighton set up, they wanted Arsenal to press them to go long, and when Arsenal were stretched they passed it through.

“[Kaoru] Mitoma gave Ben White as big a roasting as I’ve seen for a long time. And this is a player [White] who’s been playing well this season.

“Arsenal just couldn’t get it going. Brighton deserve so much credit but maybe it was just a game too far for Arsenal.”

Another Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira, conceded that the Premier League title was heading to the Etihad Stadium once again after the Gunners’ loss.

“I’m sorry to say it but I think it’s impossible for Man City to let that [lead at the top] go now,” Vieira said on Sky Sports.

“It was a must win game for Arsenal and today they didn’t play their game. There was a lack of energy. It looked like the result of City killed their legs because they didn’t do enough to win the game.”

Ex-Man City defender Micah Richards was understandly pleased with the scoreline at the Emirates, he added: “It’s a good feeling for City. They have applied the pressure today [by beating Everton earlier in the day] and Arsenal didn’t turn up.
