Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he “would” take the Leeds United job if it was offered to him but he concedes that “there’s no chance” they will want him.

Leeds have been without a manager since Jesse Marsch was sacked at the start of last week. Michael Skubala has been in interim charge since then.

Under him, Leeds United have drawn and lost against rivals Manchester United. They have since confirmed that he will remain in charge for their vital game against Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.

“Leeds United can confirm Michael Skubala will continue to lead the men’s first team for the club’s upcoming fixtures,”

“Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas will carry on supporting Michael, alongside the backroom team already in place.

“Skubala, Gallardo and Armas have overseen two positive performances over the last week against Manchester United and will lead training ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park.”

Leeds have failed to appoint the likes of Arne Slot and Carlos Corberan but it was reported earlier this week that

It was claimed that Redknapp would be ‘willing’ to take over until the summer. He has now been asked about these reports himself.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth boss has confirmed that there is no substance to the reports but he “would do it” if Leeds approached him.

“I would do it but it coincides with Cheltenham week. I’ve got a couple of runners so I really can’t give that up,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.

“I don’t know where it [the rumour] came from. Someone rang me yesterday and I said, ‘It’s not April 1, is it?’

“It came out of the air. I would do it, I wouldn’t say no anywhere. But there’s no chance I will get the Leeds job.”

When asked what it would take for him to take over at Leeds, Redknapp answered: “I’d go there for no wages and take a bonus for keeping them up!”

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has suggested that Redknapp would “get the best out of players” if he joined Leeds.

“That would be unbelievable. He would get the best out of players,” Parlour claimed.

“He would have good coaching staff around him as well. Sometimes it’s not all about coaching, it’s about man-management. Harry is top-class at that, top class.”
