Pundit doubles down on Haaland view and claims Kane is a ‘better footballer’ than Man City star

Erling Haaland made history with Manchester City last night, but he’s still got some pundits to win over even after his Champions League heroics.

and they sailed into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Haaland is now the leading scorer in both the Premier League and Champions League as he has scored a whopping 39 goals in all competitions.

Despite his five star showing against RB Leipzig, Jason Cundy has doubled down on his viewpoint that Harry Kane is a better footballer than the Man City star.

“I think Harry Kane is a better footballer, I do,” the pundit told talkSPORT. “I say that consistently over years. You’re telling me that in that team Kane wouldn’t score goals?

“Harry Kane is more than that. He’s a ten and a nine, he can drop in. I think if Harry Kane plays for Man City, I think they [would] win the title.

“Harry Kane brings players in. Both can be true, one is not exclusively right. Harry Kane is a brilliant footballer and a brilliant goalscorer. Haaland is a brilliant goalscorer.”

Fellow pundit Jamie O’Hara joined in on the debate and backed up Haaland because of his outstanding goal return.

“I know you’re a massive fan of Harry Kane, I know you are,” O’Hara responded. “I get that and I’m a big fan as well, but come on!

“Let’s not get silly here. Haaland has got 39 goals this season. They’ve still got 12 games to play.”

and he is set to break all sorts of goalscoring records.

The Man City forward became only the third player in Champions League history to score five goals in a match after Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano.

After the match, and who have claimed he has made the side worse.

“When he’s playing like this in the team, they are absolutely dominant. He gives the feeling as long as everyone else is a 7/10 and he’s here we win.

“Scandalously I’ve heard people say he [negatively] impacts the way this team plays. 39 goals in the season… he only makes this team better.”
