Neville ‘thinks Arsenal will win’ Premier League if Arteta’s squad get over one major hurdle

Gary Neville has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League if they pick up all three points when they come up against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield.

Neville has consistently predicted that Man City will win the Premier League this season even though Arsenal are currently eight points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Man City beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates in February. Since then, the Gunners have won seven games in a row in the Premier League.

beat Leeds United 4-1 last weekend. Arteta insisted that he “trusts” all of his squad to perform when needed.

“First of all the players have to feel trust, that we trust them. They need to feel that confidence,” Arteta said post-match.

“The players have to have the chance and they need to be preparing to perform in the right way to have the chance like Rob [Holding] did and to actually perform.

“The way they live, the way they challenge themselves is exceptional. It’s not easy to do that when you just throw Rob in after a few months of inactivity at this level, but I thought he was exceptional.

“I’m really happy. We need everybody. We’ve had long-term injuries and the team needs to somehow find a way to keep winning and keep performing.”

Arsenal come up against Liverpool at Anfield this weekend. The Reds have only lost one of their 13 home Premier League games this season.

Neville believes Anfield “is a terror of a place” to go to and if Arsenal pick up three points there, “they will win” the league.

“I still think City are going to do it because I think that they’ll have that little bit more experience,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“Look, I think it’s 50:50, it wasn’t that I was certain six or eight weeks ago that City were going to win win the league, I absolutely thought by now Arsenal would have dropped lots of points and they wouldn’t be where they are, but now I think it’s 50:50.

“If it was at this time of year quite often that proved to be the case. If Arsenal go to Anfield and win, I would definitely say it would be their title, because the confidence from that would be unbelievable.

“Anfield is a terror of a place to go, but if they lose at Anfield it then becomes a title race. I’m saying they’re going to lose it just because they lose at Anfield, but if they win at Anfield I think they will win it.”
