Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Markus Krosche has poured cold water on reports of ‘detailed talks’ with Manchester United over a move for Randal Kolo Muani.

United’s interest in Kolo Muani has been well documented for some time, with the France international on a long list of potential arrivals at Old Trafford this summer.

And claimed the Red Devils ‘have held detailed talks over a potential deal’ for the 24-year-old – who got 23 goals and 17 assists in 45 games for Frankfurt this season – along with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

Previous reports have indicated that Kolo Muani – who has been capped by France seven times – could be available for around £78m, while Hojlund would be a cheaper option with claims he could command a £52m fee.

The report added:

‘United’s ownership flux is adding some uncertainty to budgets but Ten Hag and the club’s recruitment staff are progressing on a basis of business as usual.

‘Murtough has spoken to Atalanta and Eintracht several times over Hojlund and Kolo Muani, respectively, with both clubs open to selling their players for the right price.’

But Krosche has rubbished that report, insisting no club has opened talks over Kolo Muani, and while he admits it “would be irresponsible” for Frankfurt not to consider offers, he wants the striker to remain with the club this summer.

“There may already be one or two interested parties. But so far there has been no one who has approached us, it is all speculation so far. We don’t have to sell him,” Krosche told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

“Sure, we also have to work out transfer fees – but we don’t have our backs to the wall. On the contrary, we have built up a good economic starting position thanks to our successes after Corona.

“At some point, sums will be on the table that it would be irresponsible not to think about.

“I’m not putting him on the market, and I don’t want to transfer him. My goal is that Randal stays with us.”
