Erik ten Hag has been told he can make ‘three marquee signings’ for Manchester United this summer, but as many as six senior stars could be sold in order to make up the funds necessary to bring them to the club.

Ten Hag has turned things around at Old Trafford this season, guiding the club to Carabao Cup glory, with three further trophies still in the offing.

But the Dutch boss is only partway through his United rebuild and reportedly wants significant additions to his squad in the summer.

United spent big last summer with Casemiro (£70m), Antony (£85m) and Lisandro Martinez (£56m) all arriving at the club, meaning there are now limited funds available.

Ten Hag has been told by the board that Financial Fair Play restrictions, along with a simple lack of money, will impact his budget this summer.

But Football Insider have revealed that the club are ready to make .

The report doesn’t go into details, but it’s been suggested elsewhere that Ten Hag wants a striker, a right-back and a cental midfielder.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is thought to be their top target to lead the line, though a bid of £100m will likely be required, meaning they could instead consider a move for former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham, who continues to impress at Roma.

A report over the weekend suggests the club is closing in on Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford.

And , who was the subject of a significant bid from United last summer, but opted to stay with Barcelona.

And marquee signings made this summer will require United to sell senior players first.

It’s thought Anthony Martial, Donny Van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams and Harry Maguire could all be on their way out of Old Trafford.
