Liverpool set to beat Real Madrid to Celta Vigo star to complete £154.8m new-look midfield

Liverpool are reportedly now leading the race for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga as the Reds look to complete a trio of midfield signings this summer.

Veiga has caught the eye of top European sides this season with nine goals and four assists in 32 appearances for the La Liga side this season.

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been credited with interest in Veiga, but TEAMtalk claim Liverpool are now in the driving seat to secure his signing.

Cadena Cope claim Real’s plan, should they land the Spain U21 international would be to loan him out next season, but their offer of €30m falls short of €40m (£34.8m) his release clause.

Liverpool are willing to meet that price with Jurgen Klopp thought to be a big admirer Veiga, who he believes could develop significantly under his watch at Anfield.
