Ian Wright has hit out at Gabriel Magalhaes after his mistake led to Jack Grealish scoring for Manchester City against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

The Gunners are now three games without a win in the Premier League. They were beaten 1-0 by Everton before they were held to a 1-1 draw against Brentford.

Arsenal had their biggest game of the season to date earlier this week as they hosted Man City at the Emirates.

to move to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, though Arsenal still have a game in hand.

Kevin De Bruyne fired Man City in front early on but Bukayo Saka equalised from the penalty spot before the interval. Goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland settled the game in the visitor’s favour in the second half.

The move for Grealish’s goal was started by a loose pass from Gabriel, which was picked up by Bernardo Silva. Haaland eventually played in the Englishman, who found the net with his deflected shot.

Wright has now suggested that Gabriel showed his “inexperience” with Man City’s second goal.

“We were very fortunate that he didn’t give away a penalty because he (Haaland) was offside but for me, the pass (for Grealish’s goal) is into nowhere,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“City are setting traps for him there and as soon as they win the ball, bang, they get the ball back and Haaland’s awareness for a striker was very good because he could have easily had a shot but he’s made sure that he passed it on so that they definitely get the goal and go in front.

“For me, it came down to a bit of naivety and inexperience but they are the youngest team in the league and you’re going to get those type of mistakes. For me, Gabriel doesn’t know where it’s going. That’s going to be a problem and it was.”

Prior to the loss to Man City, club legend Emmanuel Petit claimed that Gabriel and William Saliba have been “average” in recent games.

“Saliba and Gabriel don’t look the same defenders as they used to a few months ago,” Petit told Compare Bet.

“In the last couple of games, they look average. Especially Saliba, he is not playing like he was earlier this season.”
