Thierry Henry has weighed in on the Manchester United striker debate and explained why he thinks Harry Kane would be their best option.
Wout Weghorst was brought in as a short-term option in January and Ten Hag hasn’t been able to rely on the fitness of Anthony Martial.
When asked who would be the better signing for Man United between Kane and Victor Osimhen, Henry opted for the England captain.
“Because of the Premier League and he knows the Premier League, if I’m Man United I go Kane,” the pundit told CBS Sports.
“That doesn’t mean Osimhen is not a good player or whatever, it has nothing to do with that. I think Osimhen can adapt in any league.”
and they each bring different things to the table.
“But if I’m Man United, I would look at [it like] ok, this guy doesn’t need to adapt to anything, he has a way of dropping and can allow Marcus Rashford to run in behind him when he drops,” Henry added.
“Kane can play anywhere also by the way.”
Osimhen is one of the most in form players in Europe right now and it’s easy to see why Man United would be interested in the Napoli forward.
Across all competitions, the 24-year-old has scored 23 goals and has also provided several assists.
When asked which club he could see Osimhen joining, Henry responded: “We go back to a Chelsea, we go back to a United if I’m thinking Premier League.
“Paris Saint-Germain would look for a nine, because they are looking for a nine. So many teams I’m thinking, where is a nine missing?
“But those are the teams that I’m thinking are playing without a nine at the minute, or maybe they might lose one, because Paris Saint-Germain sometimes uses Kylian Mbappe inside, and we all know he’s not a nine. Is he gonna stay or not?
“But he’s gonna go wherever he wants to go. I think he can adapt to a lot of sides.”
Both Osimhen and Kane would make fine signings for Man United, although they would both come at a premium price.
While Kane’s deal with Tottenham expires in 2024, they would still be looking for a big price tag to justify his sale.
