Pep Guardiola has admitted that he “wants more” from two Man City players but he recognises that they are in a “dream” position in the Premier League.

City are coming off the biggest victory of their season.

Guardiola’s side are only ahead of Arsenal on goal difference and the Londoners still have a game in hand over the holders.

Man City will want to kick on in the coming months so they can move clear of Arsenal. Next up for Guardiola’s team is a trip to face Nottingham Forest.

The head coach has been quick to insist that “nothing has changed much” in the title race. He has also praised Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne but he “wants more” from the two players.

“Arsenal have one game in hand.. nothing changed much. We’re just thinking about Nottingham Forst,” Guardiola told reporters (via Manchester Evening News).

“Momentum is when you win 10 games in a row, we haven’t done that this season. Three games ago we lost at Tottenham. We have to be ready to play against a team who has lost just one in six, a big crowd, a good manager. When he took over Nottingham they were in a bad position now they’ve been promoted and doing really well.

“They rely on him [Cooper] in a tough moment earlier in the season and the form is there.”

On Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne: “Obviously [Grealish] is playing really good. I talk to him about his decision-making… the quality was always there but his commitment to take a risk in important decisions is right now making the difference. He has to continue.”

“[De Bruyne] is really good, it’s like Jack, like everyone. I’m so pleased for everything. But I want more.

“I have a feeling Kevin and Jack can do more and they can do it. Make a fantastic goal but I know the demands we have in front of us, tough competition, and we need the players to have the feeling they can do better.”

Guardiola also pointed out that Man City are in a “dream” position heading into the final few months of the 2022/23 campaign.

“Still 15 games left a lot of games but we want to arrive at the top eight or 10 near the top of the league to make a last effort,” Guardiola added.
