Kai Havertz “would bite your arm off” to leave Chelsea this summer, according to Glen johnson.

The German international has had a mixed time of it since he arrived at Stamford Bridge, scoring some big goals for Chelsea – including the only goal of the game in the Champions League final – but has managed just 32 in 130 games.

Havertz has been used predominantly as a central striker this season and has been criticised by some for his performances despite that not being his natural position.

And former Blues full-back Johnson believes Havertz will be desperate to leave the club at the end of the season.

“I know he has had a few big moments and won a few big trophies, but I don’t think Kai Havertz really suits the Premier League,” Johnson told DAZN Bet.

“Everything he does is so slow and lethargic and, although he is a very technical player, it helps when you’re in the Bundesliga playing for a top team and doing everything really methodically with more time afforded on the ball.

“I also think he would bite your arm off to go back to Germany, so if Chelsea have to get rid of a marquee name this summer, I think it will be him.”

Havertz spoke out after the sacking of Graham Potter earlier this week, claiming the players are “all really frustrated” things didn’t work out under the former Brighton boss.

: “First of all, I have to say it is really nice and we have to respect Bruno and the coaching staff for standing in front of the team when the manager got the sack.

“The club has to respect those guys. But it is not our job to think about who is coming in, it is up to the owners to decide that.

“We have to do our job on the pitch but when you have a manager long-term it is easier for us players. It is not nice, we have to take responsibility for what is going on. We are at the front, everyone sees us. We are all very frustrated to see Graham go but we have to accept the situation.”
