Tottenham-linked Luis Enrique is reportedly ‘really appreciated’ by Chelsea and he is one manager in the frame to replace Graham Potter.

The Blues are on the lookout for a new permanent manager heading into the summer. Potter has been let go after just seven months in charge.

The Englishman was tasked with guiding into their new era but he was sacked after they slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League following their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Ex-Brighton defender Bruno Saltor has been placed in charge on an interim basis and he will lead Chelsea for their game at Stamford Bridge against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

It has been reported that

Fabrizio Romano confirms Nagelsmann is “the favourite for the Blues”. But he adds Enrique is “really appreciated” and he “would love to work in the Premier League”.

Romano also acknowledges that Enrique “would only accept a “long-term project with a clear plan/ideas”.

‘Luis Enrique is a good coach with the right amount of experience and is really appreciated by Chelsea,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

‘He would love to work in the Premier League, particularly in London, and would only accept a long-term project with clear plan/ideas. He’s waiting for the right opportunity and there is still no decision on the next steps at the moment.

‘Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite for the Blues. He’s a strong candidate but isn’t the only one. He’s open to speaking to the club who want someone in place as soon as possible but don’t want to rush things.

‘Ruben Amorim isn’t a name that has been mentioned too much at this stage, but he’s a great coach with excellent credentials – and a current €16m a year contract at Sporting.’

Speaking last month, Enrique openly admitted that he “would like to go to England to work”.

“I also follow the big teams in Spain. It is an interesting league. Clearly, I am influenced because I would like to work there.

“But I am not going to deceive you, I am not going to go to any team. I would like to go to a team that can do important things and there are a lot of world-class coaches who want to go to the Premier, so I’m under no illusions. But that doesn’t mean I won’t train in Spain.”
