The management at Arsenal are keen on bringing Alexis Sanchez back to the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to reports.

Sanchez was a massive hit during his time at Arsenal with the Chile international scoring 80 goals in 166 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.

The 34-year-old at Manchester United and Inter Milan, after , but he has now been revitalised at French club Marseille.

Sanchez joined the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer from Inter Milan after the Italian giants agreed to mutually terminate his contract at the end of last season.

The Chilean has contributed 17 goals and three assists in all competitions for Marseille with Sanchez scoring two of those goals in the Champions League this term.

And now AS Chile journalist José Tomás Fernández Pumarino claims that Marseille have yet to reach an agreement over a new contract for Sanchez.

He will become a free agent at the end of the season and Pumarino insist that ‘at Arsenal there is a recommendation from the management to seek the return of Alexis’.

Sanchez left Arsenal to go to Man Utd in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in 2018 but he was a massive flop, scoring just three Premier League goals in one-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.

And in an interview about his time at Man Utd, Sanchez revealed that he knew he’d made a mistake after the first training session at Carrington.

Sanchez said in 2020: “I accepted the opportunity to go to United, it felt tempting and it was something good for me, I liked this club a lot when I was a kid.

“Eventually I signed but I didn’t ask for information on what was happening inside the club.

“Sometimes there are things that you don’t realise until you get there, and I remember the first training session I had, I realised a lot of things.

“They laughed, I told them there’s something that doesn’t sit right, it doesn’t seem good.

On not getting picked by Jose Mourinho for a game against West Ham in September 2018, Sanchez added: “In a game with West Ham I wasn’t picked.

“That had never happened to me as a player. It bothered me and I said it couldn’t be possible.

“To go from being one of the best in the Premier League to not playing in five months. I came to my house and I was very sad. The next day I trained in a double shift, because I love what I do.”
