Head coach Ole Werner: “In the first half, we gave away possession too quickly after having just won the ball back. We weren’t up to the mark today, particularly before the break, which is why we came away empty-handed. In the second half, we did well at creating chances, but needed to be quicker in the final stage of our attack. Every defeat is frustrating, but we’ll continue to work hard.”

Milos Veljkovic: “We were unlucky to not come away with the point. We had some good chances, but could have used them better in the first half. We were a little too frantic towards the end, and should have stayed composed and played it around more like we did when we scored. That’s why we’re disappointed with the result.”

Justin Njinmah: “We didn’t start the game well and often won the ball high up the pitch, but didn’t make the most of the chances. If you don’t do a good enough job in these moments, you lose the game. We were patient in and around the box during the second half, but our crosses were too inaccurate. We were always looking to get shots off, but just couldn’t find the net. We knew something was in it for us today, and this was clear to see through the way the game went, which is why we’re extremely disappointed with the result.

Skelly Alvero: “There’s always a great atmosphere in the stadium, and I can feel the fans’ love and passion for the club. It was really exciting for me to get some minutes in this game because of that. I play wherever the coach needs me to. I feel comfortable in every position, but my favourites would have to be either central defensive or attacking midfield.”

Niclas Füllkrug (Borussia Dormund): “It was great for me to be able to say my goodbyes to the club today. We were dominant in the first half and barely gave them any opportunities to get through on goal. We were patient when playing the ball round at the back, which was our plan going into the game. It’s not easy for any team here in Bremen, but our main focus was on the result. Therefore, I’m thrilled that we put in a strong team performance tonight.
