Head coach Ole Werner: “The game went exactly as we had expected. Köln were very organised and played with passion. They repeatedly posed a threat with their pace on the pitch. Despite this, we were present for the full 90 minutes and were equally as strong. Like Köln, we also struggled in possession for while, but it was vital was that we stayed disciplined. We knew that we had to draw a line under the performance against Heidenheim. The team were solid across the board, which is a good foundation for us to build upon.”
Marco Friedl: “There were very few clear-cut chances in the first half. It wasn’t a great game to watch, but it also wasn’t easy for us on the pitch. Köln were defensively strong, so it was a tough evening for both teams. We got lucky and scored the goal out of nowhere, and Köln proceeded to pile the pressure on. Nevertheless, hats off to the boys – we fought hard and were rewarded with the three points. That speaks volumes about them.”
Justin Njinmah: “It definitely wasn’t the best game to watch if you were a neutral fan, but the way we responded to it made all the difference. It’s motivating for us to see that we’re capable of performing like that. I don’t feel as though we let the Heidenheim game get to us. We stayed focused on the task at hand against Köln, and knew that it would be a tough game. I received a knock in a tackle at the end, which hurts at the moment, but I’m hoping that it’s not too serious.”
We’re having such a good time,

Jens Stage: “It was difficult for both teams at the beginning, but we didn’t let it faze us. The fans were super supportive and created a great atmosphere. We put up a really good fight, and the boys gave 100 percent. We’re thrilled to be bringing all three points back to Bremen.”
Mitchell Weiser: “I personally didn’t feel great today. Nevertheless, I’m a firm believer that I’m capable of changing the course of a game, even when things aren’t going too well for me on an individual basis. I’m happy that it worked out like that today. We played well as a team today, even when things got tough for us. Considering how the first half of the season went, winning our third away game on the trot certainly wasn’t a given – however, when you give 100 percent, you reap the rewards from that.
