Ole Werner: “I’m disappointed because we played well overall against a top side. We linked up as a team very well, but we didn’t carry this into the final third, especially in the first half. We didn’t create enough scoring chances. It is very annoying that we lost the game in two moments. For us, it’s now a matter of improving these individual issues.”

Marco Friedl: “We didn’t give them much overall, but then gifted them the game in a few minutes. As has often been the case in recent weeks, we were the better team, but Freiburg played intelligently to get the win. Both goals were far too easy and we didn’t defend them well. We haven’t been progressing for some time now. We’re playing well but make crucial mistakes.”

Niklas Stark: “We could have walked off the pitch with a win today. We dominated the game for the most part, especially in the first half, but we didn’t get anything in front of goal. We had good chances where the ball just didn’t go in, and this has been the case in recent weeks. We have to keep working so that the luck goes our way and we can win games. It’s very hard to take today because we played well both in defence and attack.”

Maximilian Philipp: “We definitely deserved a point today, if not the win. We had good control of the game; it wasn’t a match full of great opportunities, but we had the better chances in my opinion. Freiburg are a top side at the moment and they use their chances well. We put in a lot of effort and it’s very disappointing.”
