“Joel is a very interesting player who is eager to learn and has performed very well in the Bremen-Liga this season. He has also demonstrated his potential in first team training sessions and shown that he still has room to develop further. The plan is for him to begin training regularly with the professionals. It is also important for him to gain further game time with the U23s,” explained Fritz.
The 6’4″ forward is looking forward to continuing his career with Werder: “I’m convinced that the right move for my development is to continue with Werder. I’ve been able to take another step into senior football over the last year, and I’ve had the opportunity to get important experience with the first team, especially in training. Now I want to make the most of this opportunity and show myself in the best possible light.”
Imasuen moved to the Werder academy from Viktoria Berlin in 2022 and has scored 41 goals in 27 games in the Bremen-Liga this season. He made his Bundesliga debut in March, coming on as a late substitute against Wolfsburg. The Atlanta-born striker was also named in Ole Werner’s matchday squad for last month’s visit to Bayer Leverkusen.
