1. FC Union Berlin scored four second-half goals to defeat promoted 3.Liga club Viktoria Berlin at the Jahn Sportpark in the capital.

Kevin Behrens added to his goal on Saturday at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei with his first against opposition, while Marcus Ingvartsen, Timo Baumgartl and Andreas Voglsammer put some shine on a warm evening in Berlin.

Three minutes had barely gone by before Niko Gießelmann’s free kick from around 35 yards out was powered home by Behrens, who joined in the summer from Sandhausen. Union enjoyed a bunch of half-chances around the Viktoria penalty box without taking full advantage. Levin Öztunali and Keita Endo were denied with decent efforts as Benedetto Muzzicatto watched his side get back in the game. Viktoria launched a swift counter from midfield and Moritz Seiffert ran through on goal, slotting past Jakob Busk.

Fischer called upon 10 new players for the second half with Busk the only remaining survivor before the break. Malick Sanogo made a quick impact and nearly set up Andreas Voglsammer but the former Bielefeld striker headed over. Sanogo was then influential in the second Union goal – backheeling at the front post and the goal-bound ball was knocked home by Marcus Ingvartsen. But the home side fought back and took advantage of some sloppy play from the Bundesliga side. Yamada fired over from close range before Enes Küc curled home a superb strike from the edge of the box. On 65 minutes, Union restored the lead through Timo Baumgartl who won the first cross into the box, heading off the bar before putting in the rebound himself. Andreas Voglsammer came alive in the last 10 minutes to pick up a brace at the Jahn-Sportpark. The first came from a smart set-piece, which Julius Kade knocked into Voglsammer’s path for the striker to head home. Five minutes later, the striker tapped in to an empty net after good wing play from Pawel Wszolek.

Union XI (1st Half): Busk; Gießelmann, Dehl, Van Drongelen, Knoche; Andrich, Griesbeck, Haraguchi; Endo, Behrens, Öztunali

Union XI (2nd Half): Busk; Ryerson, Jaeckel, Baumgartl, Puchacz; Khedira, Kade; Voglsammer, Ingvartsen, Wszolek; Sanogo
