There is more change within the 1. FC Union Berlin squad with the news that attacking midfielder Tim Skarke will be loaned to FC Schalke 04 until the end of the season.
The Heidenheim born player moved to Köpenick in the summer of 2022 after previously spending three years with Darmstadt 98 in Germany’s second division.
The speedy 26-year-old has made six appearances, spread across three competitions, with three substitute appearances in the Bundesliga, and two in the Europa League so far this season. He also took to the pitch against the club of his youth, 1. FC Heidenheim, in the 2nd round of the DFB Pokal.
“With this agreement, we want to give Tim the opportunity to get more playing time,” commented Union’s director of professional football, Oliver Ruhnert on the deal. “Ultimately, we could not always guarantee him this. Schalke approached us and in the end it made sense for everyone involved.”
