During 1. FC Union Berlin’s UEFA Europa Conference League match against Maccabi Haifa on September 30, there was anti-semitic abuse directed at German fans of the opposition in Block 14 of the Olympic Stadium.
Just a few days after the match, 1. FC Union Berlin was able to identify the perpetrator. Proceedings were then initiated against him to expel him from the club as well as ban him from all Union matches, while a nationwide ban was registered with the German FA.
Following an investigation by UEFA’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, a decision was reached:
- UEFA have ordered a section closure for the next UECL match against Feyenoord.
- A banner with #NoToRacism and the UEFA logo will be placed in the closed section.
All ticket holders who are impacted by the section closure will be contacted next week by Union with information about seat detail changes.
