1. FC Union Berlin and Milos Pantovic are going their separate ways, with the Serbian midfielder joining KAS Eupen in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League where he will join up with his former Union colleague Kevin Möhwald.

From Bayern to Bochum to Berlin

The Munich native joined Union in the summer of 2022, making 15 appearances in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. He scored two goals for the club, one of which came last year against his former employers, VfL Bochum. The 26-year-old made his breakthrough into professional football with the team from the Ruhr, both in the 2. Liga and then following their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2020/21, where the goal-scoring midfielder established himself as a key player. Before his time at VfL, the right footer was on the books at FC Bayern, but represented them mostly in the 2nd team.

Pantovic gave his fans a fond farewell as he scored in his last game as an Unioner, putting away the fourth in a 4-1, first game of the season win against 1.FSV Mainz 05.

Views on the transfer

“Sure, I came here last summer with different ideas, but in the end it was still a special year,” said a sad, but optimistic Pantovic on his move. “Union as a team and club are something unique. I wish all the Unioner only the best for the future. Now a new challenge awaits me.”

“Milos didn’t get the time with us that we had all hoped for,” said Union’s director of professional men’s football, Oliver Ruhnert. “However, he never let himself down and always showed in training that he was ready. The move to Eupen is therefore understandable and we wish him all the best for his time there.”
