Midfielder Sebastian Griesbeck has left 1. FC Union Berlin on the last day of the transfer window to join newly-promoted Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth.
Griesbeck ended a long association with 1. FC Heidenheim to join Union Berlin last summer. He made 27 appearances at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in his first Bundesliga campaign.
“I would like to thank the coaching team, my teammates, the staff and the fans for my time at Union. I felt very comfortable here and will always enjoy stopping by the Alte Försterei,” added Griesbeck on his departure.
“Sebastian showed last season that you can always rely on him. He is a great person and has always helped us in crucial situations. We have now granted his wish for more playing time and a new challenge and wish him all the best on his future path,” said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Managing Director for Professional Football.
