After four years at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Akaki Gogia will leave 1. FC Union Berlin this summer at the end of his contract.
Gogia signed for Union in 2017 from Dynamo Dresden and became an immediate hit. He scored eight goals for the club in 64 competitive matches with 12 assists.
“Even though my time at Union is now coming to an end, I will always have fond memories of the club. With the promotion and twice staying in the Bundesliga, we have achieved something incredible together with the fans, which I will never forget. For me personally, it was a shame that I could no longer be on the pitch regularly after my injury, but I would still like to thank all Union fans for the great support over the last few years,” said Gogia.
“With his commitment, Andy Gogia played a big part in our promotion to the Bundesliga and was often a crowd favourite for many, also due to his unconventional style of play. Now we wish him more minutes and all the best for his future and thank him for a great time with us,” said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Managing Director for Professional Football.
