Record against Frankfurt

Overall: 116 games, 50 wins, 23 draws, 43 defeats, 210:201 goal difference

Looking back

VfB were beaten 3-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena earlier in the season. A Tiago Tomas goal gave Stuttgart hope after Eintracht had taken a 2-0 lead, but the visitors struck again to clinch victory.

Goals galore

There have been 350 goals in the 99 Bundesliga meetings between VfB and Frankfurt – 3.54 per game on average. The sides last played out a goalless draw in March 1994.

Japanese quintet

Five Japanese players could line up at Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday. Wataru Endo, Genki Haraguchi and Hiroki Ito are expected to feature for VfB, while Makoto Hasebe and Daichi Kamada could start for Frankfurt. The latter duo helped Eintracht win the Europa League last season, while Hasebe has also lifted the DFB Cup with Frankfurt (2018) and the Bundesliga title with VfL Wolfsburg (2009). The 39-year-old has made 367 appearances in Germany’s top flight – more than any other Asian player.

Personnel

Serhou Guirassy (ruptured adductor tendon) remains sidelined, while Pascal Stenzel (muscle problems) is also unavailable. Eintracht are without Jesper Lindström (ankle injury) and Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe.
