VfB have collected four of a possible six points from their two most recent visits to Gladbach. In their final away game of the 2020/21 campaign, Stuttgart capped an impressive season with a late 2-1 win thanks to goals from Wataru Endo (72’) and Sasa Kalajdzic (77’).
Gladbach defender Nico Elvedi has a higher pass-completion ratio than any other player in the Bundesliga – 95.2 per cent to be precise. VfB’s Naouirou Ahamada is 17th in that particular list with an 89.25 per cent completion rate.
Gladbach’s Ko Itakura became the first Japanese player to sign for the club when he joined from Schalke 04 in the summer. VfB have had six Japanese players in their ranks down the years: Gotoku Sakai, Shinji Okazaki, Takuma Asano, Hajime Hosogai as well as current players Endo and Hiroki Ito.
Enzo Millot and Tanguy Coulibaly remain sidened with muscle injuries, but Dinos Mavropanos has taken part in every training session this week and is fit for the game. Josha Vagnoman is also in contention for a place in the matchday squad.
