Record against Bayern
Overall: 138 games. 28 wins, 24 draws, 86 defeats. 167:297 goal difference.
In the Bundesliga: 110 games. 19 wins, 22 draws, 69 defeats. 124:231 goal difference.

Looking back
Last season both teams won their respective home matches. Bayern triumphed 3-0 in Munich shortly before Christmas, while VfB took revenge towards the end of the campaign with a 3-1 success en route to finishing as runners-up.

On a roll
VfB have scored at least once in each of their last 22 Bundesliga games, the best run of all current top-flight teams and the second-longest such streak in club history. The VfB record stands at 27 matches, set under coach Helmut Benthaus in 1984 and 1985.

The boys from Cannstatt have only failed to find the net three times in the Bundesliga under Sebastian Hoeneß, including the 3-0 reverse in Munich last December.

Goal hungry
With 20 goals so far this season, Bayern are the sharpest shooters in the Bundesliga. VfB are currently third on that list with 15. Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen are the only other team to have scored more than VfB (16).

Bayern have registered at least three goals in a single game four times this term; VfB have done so on three occasions.

What they’re saying
Sebastian Hoeneß, VfB head coach: “They’re back to their old strength, playing with high intensity and running a lot, even though they have the most possession in the league. Bayern have an outstanding squad but we want to try to take our chances and make it a more open game than last year there.

Vincent Kompany, Bayern head coach: “Stuttgart have shown what they’re capable of. When you look at their games, they always want to play their way. They always apply a lot of pressure and want to play their way through. They’re a good team. Hopefully it’ll be a good game.”

Personnel
Germany international Jamal Musiala will be absent for Bayern due to a hip complaint, while Hiroki Ito, who left VfB for Munich over the summer, also misses out with a broken foot. Dayot Upamecano is rated doubtful with a thigh complaint.

Sebastian Hoeneß: “Dan-Axel Zagadou, Luca Raimund, Chris Führich, Justin Diehl and Leonidas Stergiou will be absent. Nick Woltemade missed the second international because of a cold but trained with us on Thursday.”

Attendance
The Allianz Arena has long been sold-out for this fixture and no away tickets will be available at the stadium on the day. At least 7,550 VfB fans are expected to fill the stands.
