“El Bi”, on Tuesday VfB recorded their first win in the UEFA Champions League for 14 years. You scored the all-important goal in the 1-0 win over Juventus – what does this goal mean to you?
El Bilal: “It was a very important goal, both for me personally and for the team. We’ve often played well in recent weeks but not got the rewards and therefore, unfortunately, not picked up enough wins. It was just good to be able to celebrate with the fans at the end. I’m sure that the victory at Juventus will give us added energy to go on and get more wins now.”
On Saturday you host Bundesliga newcomers Holstein Kiel at the MHP Arena (15:30 CEST). How will you approach the game?
El Bilal: “We come into it with confidence from the match against Juve, where we produced a very good performance. It’s important that we approach the game against Kiel with the same concentration and energy. We’re playing at home and absolutely want to collect the three points. We’ve already turned our attention fully to Kiel and are preparing well for them.”
