Points haul

VfB have picked up 34 points in 16 matches, putting them third in the league. Sebastian Hoeneß’s team have won 11 of their 16 games – a new club record. The last time that the lads from Cannstatt had more points than this after 16 matches was in the 2003/04 season, when they had 35.

Support

Once again, VfB have been able to count on their fans, both at home and away. The home sections of the MHPArena have been sold out for all nine matches, with an average home attendance of no less than 53,789.

Home record

The team have certainly ridden the wave of that support, winning seven of their nine home games. The second-best record in the league in that respect.

Ever-present

Alexander Nübel has played every minute of all 16 matches so far this season (1,440 official minutes). Captain Waldemar Anton has played the most of any outfielder (1,408 minutes), and on Matchday 6 against 1. FC Köln, he made his 100th Bundesliga appearance in a VfB jersey.

Debutants

No fewer than ten players have made their first Bundesliga appearance for VfB this season. These include new recruits such as Nübel in goal, and also a player who has come up through the youth ranks, namely Luca Raimund.

Goal-getters

Serhou Guirassy set a new Bundesliga record with 13 goals in the first seven matches. He is now up to 17 in 14 games.

Deniz Undav meanwhile has nine goals in 13 games this season, meaning that Guirassy and Undav have 26 of VfB’s 37 goals between them.

Fastest goal

VfB’s fastest goal of the season came courtesy of Undav in the 2-1 win away to Frankfurt, when he found the back of the net after just 59 seconds.

Don’t leave before the final whistle

The latest goal, meanwhile, was scored by Guirassy in the seventh minute of time added on, to ice a 3-1 win away to in Mainz on Matchday 4.

Super-subs

Six VfB goals have come from the bench so far, three of those from Undav alone, making him the most prolific substitute in the Bundesliga alongside Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.

Most assists

Chris Führich has five assists – the most for VfB this season – as well as five goals in his own right, and this form has seen him get the call-up for the German national team. He made his international debut in October against USA and became the 46th VfB player to represent Germany.

Clean sheets

VfB have kept a clean sheet in six of their 11 wins this season – only Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Bayern have done better, with seven each.

Youngest squad

With an average age of 24.9, VfB have put out the youngest Bundesliga team this season. VfL Wolfsburg are next with an average age of 25.1 for the 23 players that they have used.

Longest run

VfB won six in a row between Matchday 3 and Matchday 8. The last time they went on a run of that calibre was in the 2009/10 season, from Matchday 27 to Matchday 32.

Passes made, duels won

Angelo Stiller is the one pulling the strings in midfield for VfB with his precision on the ball and overall view of the game. The summer recruit from TSG Hoffenheim has a pass success rate of 93.55 per cent, which puts him fourth overall in the Bundesliga.

Atakan Karazor has won the most duels for VfB with 163 in all, putting him in the top ten in the league.

Fastest player

According to DFL data, Silas is one of the quickest players in the Bundesliga. The DR Congo forward was clocked at 35.97 km/h, putting him at the front of the pack with the likes of Alphonso Davies (Bayern), Sheraldo Becker (1. FC Union Berlin) and Eren Dinkci (1. FC Heidenheim).
