Yussuf Poulsen extends his contract until 2026!

The journey continues!

On 4th July 2013, a top Danish talent called Yussuf Yuray Poulsen signed for RB Leipzig from Lyngby BK and the rest, as they say, is history.

RBL secured the services of this 19-year-old, still a diamond in the rough. He was rapid, good in the air, and had an eye for goal. More than anything, though, he was passionate, committed and driven by his willpower.

3,764 days later and it’s clear that the story isn’t coming to an end anytime soon, as RB Leipzig and Yussuf Poulsen (now 29) have agreed on a two-year contract extension until 2026.

After celebrating our record appearance holder’s ten-year anniversary at the club in September, we’re now looking forward to what the future holds and our number nine’s 11th, 12th and 13th seasons as an RBL player.

“I recently said it and I can only repeat it: I love being at RB Leipzig! I’m finally fit again this season and can therefore help my team again out on the pitch. Playing with this team is really enjoyable; I look forward to every training session, every game and every new challenge.
I was basically just a young lad still when I came to Leipzig in 2013. It was a new country, a new language and a new team for me. What’s happened since is pretty crazy. We’ve had two promotions, played in the Champions League and, to top it all off, we’ve won two DFB-Pokaltitles in recent years. The club and myself have developed together – you could even say we’ve grown up together.

I had good discussions with Rouven Schröder and Marco Rose about my future and we quickly agreed that we wanted to continue working together past 2024. I’m extremely proud of the respect people have for me here and the support of the fans over the years. Now, we want to write the next success story together.”
