Read all the reaction to our 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund below.

Marco Rose

  • “It was a very tough, emotional game today. On the one hand, I’m really happy that we managed to win. On the other hand, I’m a bit annoyed about certain moments in the match, especially the closing stages of both halves.

We played pretty well apart from that. We had chances to put the game to bed and we wouldn’t have had too many complaints if Dortmund got another goal towards the end of the match.

We didn’t have the freshness and energy that we usually do, and we need that for games like this. The training sessions this week went well, but maybe they were a little too intense.

I expect the boys to have more control when the opposition are a man down. I also expect them not to concede from a corner directly after making it 3-1. I’m happy that we managed to win today, but we need to address a couple of things.”

Christoph Baumgartner

  • “We didn’t play well for periods of the match if we’re being honest with ourselves. Dortmund needed something after going down to ten men and started to play with courage. They took a lot of risks and were very energetic.

We were sloppy and we weren’t bold enough in possession. We’ve got to perform better when you consider how much quality we’ve got. It wasn’t our best performance, but we’re happy that we won. The most important thing is picking up the three points.

Now, we’ve got three tough games to close out the year. It goes without saying that we want to win at home when we play Young Boys in the Champions League. If we manage to get past Hoffenheim and Bremen too, we’ll be in a good position going into the winter break.”

Yussuf Poulsen

  • “We made things interesting today. Football’s a results business. We could’ve done a lot of things better, but that doesn’t matter at the moment. We picked up three points in a massive game. We’re feeling good.

Now, we’re looking ahead to our next few matches. We play Young Boys to round off the Champions League group stages on Wednesday and we obviously want to win in front of our own fans.”

Xaver Schlager

  • “We didn’t start the game the way we wanted to. Dortmund played well, while we were passive. The game was still tough after the red card. We had more space, but struggled to exploit it.

We play some nice football but too many chances go begging. That’ll change at some point, but it’s a big challenge for us at the moment.”
