An impressive win for RB Leipzig! Here are the reactions to the 3-2 win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Marco Rose
- “At half-time we spoke about the new system formation that we adapted for the game and us needing to be more consistent in a few things with and without the ball.
Leverkusen were constantly generating danger, but it wasn’t as if they were outplaying us. My players ultimately did an excellent job, were hard to play against, earned and fought for the win. We are happy to take that with us back home.”
Kevin Kampl
- “We believed in turning things around, there was a lot of determination on our side. We supported each other brilliantly. We knew it would be difficult because Leverkusen plays amazingly good football. We wanted to go forward and attack. That worked in some situations, but not every time. Scoring just before half-time was very important.
In the dressing room we told ourselves that winning was still possible. Today we struck with ice-cold precision! It’s really special for me to have scored here. Leverkusen is a very special club for me, I had a wonderful time here and still know a lot of people.”

Lois Openda
- “It’s an amazing feeling to have won here in Leverkusen. We wanted to play a good game and gave it our all, regardless if I started on the bench or on the pitch. At the end we celebrated with the fans. It was an amazing evening.
It was incredibly important to have scored the 1-2 goal before half-time. After that I scored twice. Benjamin Sesko set up the first one well, and on the second attempt I just took a shot. Today we’re just happy.”
Rouven Schröder
- “It was certainly an exciting football match for the fans. Towards the end of the first half, not many would have put their money on us, as we were lucky in one or two occasions.
The 1-2 goal kept us alive. We continued to believe in ourselves, improved on certain things in the second half and were effective in the end.”
