- “We struggled to get into the game in the second half. We kept possession well before the break and interspersed it with some good long balls. We let them back into the game too early in the second 45 though and then the stadium came to life again. We knew that we would have to defend for a long time. Ultimately, we didn’t do it well enough.
City’s goals were the result of individual brilliance, but it came down to fine margins. If we had been half a second quicker, we could have prevented them.

- “We defended really well in the first half and countered them effectively. We did a great job both on and off the ball. City changed things up in the second half and really shifted up a gear.
So soon after the game, the overwhelming feeling is frustration, but tomorrow we will be able to look back and take a lot of positives from the match. It’s a shame that we ended up conceding three goals and go home empty-handed.
It was important and good for me personally to show that I can perform in those kinds of games. Now we need to pick up points again in the Bundesliga, so Saturday’s home fixture against Heidenheim is crucial.”

- “We came very close today and saw that our young team can more than hold their own and show the kind of football we want to play. On the other hand, we’re left disappointed to have lost the game.
We were still in the game at 2-2. Unfortunately, Fabio Carvalho was offside in the build-up to his goal. It’s those fine margins. But all in all, there were positives today. Now we will look ahead to Heidenheim on Saturday, and the goal is to get three points on the board.”
