Who’s going to be the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for September? RBL’s Xavi has been nominated once again. It’s a second nomination of the season for the 20-year-old after he was also up for the prize in August.
Our new arrival started four games in September, which shows how much of a key player he’s become already. Alongside Lois Openda, he was involved in more goals than any other RBL player last month, scoring twice and registering two assists.
Xavi helped to open the floodgates in our games against Union Berlin and FC Augsburg (both 3-0) by scoring the opening goal on both occasions and propelling RBL towards victory. The Dutch international also provided the assist for Timo Werner’s winner against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-0).
It’s not just Xavi’s goal threat that has been impressive. His tackling ability and his work rate make him a handful in and around the opposition box. He won an impressive 60% of his challenges and averaged 26 sprints per game across RBL’s four games in September
