Xavi Simons on…
… his move to RB Leipzig:
- “The Bundesliga is an exciting competition where young players can develop well, so it didn’t take me long at all when Leipzig got in contact with me.
The discussions with Marco Rose and Max Eberl were decisive. Both of them gave me a great feeling straight away. There was a good atmosphere between everyone right from the beginning and when you get that feeling, you have to take the opportunity – that’s why I’m here.”
… his preferred position:
- “My favourite position is as a 10, but I’ll play wherever the coach puts me and give 100% out on the pitch for the team. That goes without saying.”
The discussions with Max and Marco were decisive.
Xavi Simons on…
… his phone-call celebration:
- “Whenever I score, I do that celebration for my brother and sister. I point to the camera to show them that I’m thinking of them. My family is the most important thing for me.”
… his relationship with Dani Olmo:
- “Dani Olmo was one of the prominent figures in the Barcelona youth academy when I was there. I’m five years younger than him and he was one of the academy players that the younger players would look up to. I’m really looking forward to playing alongside him and I’m sure there’ll be a good connection between us.”
