Opposition Analysis: FC Bayern

MARCO ROSE ON…

… FC BAYERN

  • “Of course we know things aren’t going smoothly for Bayern at the moment and they’re having a hard time. But that’s part of football. They’re still an excellent team with excellent individual players and a top coach.

They have won nine of their last eleven home games. And the truth is that they should have been leading 2-0 in Bochum. With their number of points they would normally be top of the table. But they’re not thanks to Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

So Bayern aren’t that bad. It is and remains difficult to win in Munich, that’s for sure. Three points would be very important for us and would give us a boost ahead of the next tough games.”

… POSSIBLE IMPACT ON THOMAS TUCHEL’S DEPARTURE AT THE END OF THE SEASON

  • “Basically, I can’t influence that. I have great respect for Thomas Tuchel and what he has achieved. We can only influence our performance. And it has to be really good, that’s clear.

Decisions always have consequences in life and can have an impact in one direction or another. You make decisions to change and improve things. Sometimes it gets better, sometimes it doesn’t. We concentrate on ourselves, that’s the most important thing.”

MARCO ROSE ON…

… LOIS OPENDA’S FORM

  • “His stats are very good with 16 goals in the Bundesliga. Hopefully there will be more. It is important that Lois sticks with it and continues to work on improving.

He brings a lot of depth to our game and is smart with the ball. I believe that he can still improve. We have one or two areas of his game that we can work on. And it is important that he recognises this. We have some details to work on.”

… DANI OLMO’S SEASON

  • “He can be the X factor in Munich. I have always said that Dani Olmo is a difference maker. He is tough to replace, his quality on the ball is so unique. We are pleased that he is available at the moment.

He is at an age where he can still develop. But he’s just a very special player who is enjoying the things he’s worked hard for. You can’t learn that either. He sometimes sees things that others don’t see and plays balls that others never will. And he is also willing to do work for the team. That’s why I’m no longer so concerned with further development. The main thing is that he stays healthy and available in order to stay consistent over many games

Marco Rose about…

… THE MENTAL ASPECT OF FOOTBALL

  • “One is the skills, the other is the mentality. Then you can have eleven heads on the pitch that think in the same direction and pursue the same goal. And that’s what it’s all about in the end.

If you have the same idea and you’re passionate about it, then it doesn’t matter what skills you have. For example, when running back. It’s that simple and easy.

But the path from the head to the legs for individual players or a group is not always that easy. But The task of coaching a team is also to coordinate this and bring it into a collaborative flow.”

… THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE U19S BEFORE THE GAME AT REAL MADRID

  • “It’s a great and special event for the boys to get on the plane and play against Real Madrid . They can compete against other top players. These are priceless experiences for such young guys.

Since I’ve been here, overall, I think the development of the young talent is very positive. At the beginning I was a bit criticall. But we are on a very good path at the moment and have simplified a few things. For example when it comes to tactics and training.

We have always had this here, very good young coaches and players. We added Yannick Eduardo and Nuha Jatta to our squad in the second half of the season and rewarded them for their good work. Of course, they recognise what they are missing, but they are developing great. And we still have more players to come through.

The trend is definitely right. We want to continue to develop a culture and energy in the club and in the young talent that allows us to train as well as possible.”
