There were many absent, but lots of newcomers as over 200 RB Leipzig supporters visited the players at today’s training session open to the public.

Due to theinternational break, the squad available to Marco Rose was smaller today.

Instead, a number of youth players took part in the training session. Eight Leipzig academy players, four each from the U17s and U19s, were part of the session alongside André Silva, Benni Henrichs and the other players.

Abdou Diallo back in team training – team news

RBL fans were able to welcome back a familiar face as Abdou Diallo was almost fully involved in team training today after a long break due to a knee injury.

Caden Clark, however, was absent, as the American was given time to fly back to his home country for a few days during the international break and he will keep himself fit there.

More information on injuries and suspensions can be found in the squad update.

Reaction after training: Janis Blaswich on…

…the mood in the squad after the two defeats:

  • “Of course it is not a nice feeling to go into the break like this. But we shouldn’t get our heads down and stop working. We have to work even harder now and try to keep the mood up so that we can bring our top level back onto the pitch.”

…the training session open to the fans:

  • “For sure it’s nice that the fans can watch training here. It’s also good for us training, there’s a good atmosphere, but it’s also important that we train at our level even when the fans aren’t here.”

…the importance of training for the final period of the season:

  • “We have to be sharp in training, because the games come one after the other, so we have to bring to the matches what we do here. I don’t think any team can train a little bit at 70 percent and then go into the game with full intensity. We need training for that.”

…the situation in the table in the fight for Champions League places:

  • “The good thing is that there are still a lot of league games, but we have to look from game to game now. Every game is important, no matter where our opponents are in the table. Every game and every point is important now so that we can achieve our goals. We believe that we can achieve our goals and that’s where we’re working towards now.”
