RBL join illustrious group!
RB Leipzig in the Champions League – this is no longer an exception, but the rule!
In six of the previous seven Bundesliga seasons, RB Leipzig qualified for Europe’s premier event at the end of the season. And fourth place, which entitles you to take part in the prestigious competition, is within reach for RBL again this season.
With the strong performances of the past few years, our club has quickly climbed up the all-time Champions League table.
Ahead of the second leg of the round of 16 at Real Madrid on Wednesday (9 p.m.), RBL are in 40th place in the ranking, which takes into account all games since 1992, the year in which the European Cup became the Champions League as we know it today.
Fifth-best German club
- RBL have collected 71 points in Europe’s top competition so far, making them the fifth-best German club to have played in the Champions League. Only FC Bayern Munich (571), Borussia Dortmund (245), Bayer 04 Leverkusen (136) and FC Schalke 04 (93) have earned more points.
Our upcoming opponent from Spain is number 1 in the all-time table. The Madrileños have collected an impressive 620 points and thus stand above FC Bayern and FC Barcelona in places 2 and 3.
If we achieve the dream on Wednesday evening and knock Real Madrid out of the competition, then we could still gain further places in the all-time table this season. But if not, we will be back. Because in the Champions League, RBL are almost part of the furniture!
