RB Leipzig’s DFB-Pokal winning head coach Marco Rose has pledged his future to the club. The 46-year-old has penned a one-year extension to his contract, keeping him in Leipzig until summer 2025.
Marco Rose:
- “When I saw the thousands of happy faces after the cup win, it filled me with pride. Leipzig is my city and the east of Germany is my home – “KarLi”, “Cossi”, the people and everything that comes with it. I consider it a privilege but also an obligation to continue to work on developing our club together with my coaching team and the RB Leipzig staff.
Following this summer’s rebuilding, we want to play football that the fans can identify with. If we can do that, we will have a lot of fun together in our stadium and celebrate even more success. I’m delighted that the management have put their faith in me so that I can continue to be a part of RB Leipzig and help write more history.“
Max Eberl:
- “Marco took over RB Leipzig in a difficult phase last season. Together with his coaching staff, he stabilised the team, overcame obstacles and ended up with a brilliant third-place finish in the Bundesliga that earned us Champions League qualification. The icing on the cake was of course our DFB-Pokal victory.
Marco has so many of the qualities that make great coaches and is a perfect fit to Leipzig and the RB way of playing football. He likes to play very positive and vertical football, but still brings real solidity. His football combines pressing, counterattacking and possession in equal measure.
Our personal relationship is one of trust and high regard. We are both incredibly ambitious and success-oriented people; we always aim to push ourselves. That is the reason we have agreed a new contract that runs for two years and we’re delighted to be continuing our journey together.”
RB Leipzig and Marco Rose – the perfect fit
Since Rose took over on 8th September 2022, RBL have picked up more points than any other Bundesliga team – a total of 61 points in 29 league games.
From October 2022 to mid-February 2023, the team went on a club-record run of 18 competitive games without defeat, including 14 wins.
On top of that, the Leipzig local – having been born and raised in the city – lead the team to DFB-Pokal glory in 2023’s final. Die Roten Bullen were able to successfully defend their title, won for the first time last season, beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in Berlin.
We’re excited to see what the future holds, Marco!
