Narrow defeat for RBL.

Head coach Marco Rose’s side narrowly lost 2-1 against Italian first division side Udinese in a high-intensity friendly on Tuesday evening.

Composed finish from Loïs Openda

In an end-to-end first half, former Leipzig player Lazar Samardžić put the Serie A side ahead (30′). The best opportunity for RBL fell to Benjamin Šeško, but his shot from range narrowly missed the target (26′).

Rose brought on fresh legs at the break, making eleven changes, and it paid off with a period of pressure from RBL at the beginning of the second half. Loïs Openda needed just 21 minutes of his first appearances for RB Leipzig to prove his quality as a goalscorer.

After good work from Timo Werner, the Belgian equalised to make it 1-1 (66′). RBL remained in the game, but it was Udinese who found another goal. Semedo scored to make it 2-1 to Udinese at full time (83′).

RBL’s next friendly is on Friday, where they will be taking on Ipswich Town and Werder Bremen in a friendly tournament.
