Past, present, and the future!
From bumpy fields in the 2nd Bundesliga to dazzling nights in the Champions League and frenetic celebrations in the highest German cup competition: Willi Orban (31) has already experienced a lot in his football career with RB Leipzig. The 1.86 meter tall central defender learned to play football in Kaiserslautern, and from summer 2015 he refined his talent in Leipzig.
Willi played his first game for the Red Bulls on July 25, 2015 in the 1-0 win against FSV Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga. 310 games later, the 30-year-old can look back on a success story: promotion to the Bundesliga, two wins in the DFB Cup, Supercup title and qualification for the Champions League a total of seven times.
Willi also developed into a national team player in Leipzig, he made his debut for the Hungarian national team on October 12, 2018 (42 international matches so far) and is also in the Hungarian squad for this summers’ European Championship.
In August of last year, Willi extended his contract until 2027. “I have long been at home in Leipzig and feel incredibly comfortable here. It is a great city with great fans and people. It is something unique to play for RB Leipzig because we can create something ourselves here.”
Enough words at this point, we have dug deep into the archives and highlighted our captain’s best first times.
