Tuesday afternoon saw RB Leipzig complete the first training session of the week, as they started preparations for the home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 (Saturday, 15:30 CEST)
The Zerofivers are one of the most in-form teams in the Bundesliga as they visit the Red Bull Arena this weekend.
In front of around 150 fans at the public training session, head coach Marco Rose was without his internationals – David Raum, Josko Gvardiol and Konrad Laimer were amongst the absentees, but despite the big names missing, the fans came in their numbers.

Alongside the team action, Christopher Nkunku was also to be seen on the pitch, as he continued work on his comeback individually. Yussuf Poulsen had to end his session early.
Following the tough 90-minute session, coach Rose spoke about the latest on Christo and Yussi, as well as Dani Olmo, who too part in a portion of the Spain national team’s final training session as planned.
Marco Rose on …
… Chrstopher Nkunku
- “We should be able to get Christo back to 100% in the coming days with individual training. We hope he can get back into full team training soon.”
… Dani Olmo
- “Because he showed some signs of fatigue, the decision was made for Dani not to play in his national team’s second game. Dani will come back to Leipzig and we’ll look after him so that he can hopefully play again on Saturday.”
… Yussuf Poulsen
- “Yussi had a knock on his calf last week, and today he was able to get back into things a bit. We need to wait and see now.”
… das Training während der Länderspielpause
- “We’ve made the best of things. We had the opportunity to bring Abdou Diallo into training. With a bit of luck, everyone should be back from their national teams on Thursday.”
