… Wolfsburg after their coaching change

  • “Wolfsburg did very well in the two games against us this season. Nevertheless, we know that we should’ve won both games. It’s the same team with similar processes in some parts. In other areas it’s already visible that Ralph Hasenhüttl is trying to introduce a few new things.

“We know that he’s a coach who likes to actively defend forwards. To what extent we allow this to happen tomorrow is up to us. We watched their two games under him and got the picture. So we think we know what to expect.

“If things get more attacking, then we might get bit more space that we can use. Of course, we have to be careful and not lose any easy balls. It’s important that we play our game and rely on our quality and form. We know what it takes. And that’s three points.”

THE REUNION OF SOME PLAYERS WITH RALPH HASENHÜTTL

  • “I obviously give my boys every space before the game to say ‘hello’. That’s the nice thing about this business, that it also cares about people. He left a good impression on the boys back then, on and off the field.

“I’m also happy to see Ralph. We haven’t had that many personal contacts up to this point. But he’s part of RBL history and was very successful for our club in his first year with a runners-up finish. Accordingly, it is important that he’s received properly.”

I LIKE THE ENERGY AND THE WAY WE ARE CURRENTLY PLAYING FOOTBALL.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIS TEAM

  • “I feel like we’re doing well right now. I like how the boys are performing at the moment. I like the energy and the way we’re currently playing football. Nevertheless, we didn’t always get the result we wanted.

“This means that ultimately we still have steps to take in our development. We want to become even sharper and better. We know that we’re valued and measured. They are often snapshots. You have to leave that aside to some extent. Overall, the boys seem solid and we just pick up where we left off.”

HIS OWN 2.01 POINTS AVERAGE AT RBL

  • “You get told a few things every now and then, including positives. That’s nice and sounds good. Nevertheless, we haven’t yet achieved our goals this season. We could have had more points, so the average could’ve been better.

“What’s important to me is the trend in the way we perform. This usually leads to you getting points.”

ELJIF ELMAS’ ROLE

  • “The guys who are playing in his position at the moment are in good shape. We know their qualities. I had another conversation with Eljif this week where we talked about how he was doing. It’s not satisfactory for him at the moment, that’s clear. He has to and wants to stick with it, we see a lot in him.

“And yet sometimes there are phases in a career where you have to deal with such resistance. He does it well and correctly. We’ll see what happens this weekend.

“He doesn’t necessarily have to play in the half positions in midfield, where Xavi and Dani Olmo currently play. He can also appear up front as a second striker, slightly off the target man. Everything is tight, it’s up to Eljif.”
