The Wolves’ friendly match report
Marco Rose’s comments on the match
- “The conditions were difficult today, there was a lot of rain. We faced a strong, uncomfortable opponent. Overall, we certainly didn’t have our best day. Even though it was a warm-up game, we don’t like losing.
We’ve had a tough week, and we were missing two players today in Assan Ouedraogo and Chad Bitshiabu. Both picked a knock, so we left them out. You could tell when we made substitutions. And Wolverhampton were in good form today, they played really well, we have to be honest about that.
It was to be expected that after a week of travelling we might not have much energy left. That was evident in one or two aspects. We didn’t press as well, we weren’t as strong as we would have wanted. You have to concede that to the players towards the end of this US Tour. But of course our expectations are different.
Marco Rose’s special praise
- “Today we saw an outstanding performance from a very young player: Viggo Gebel. It was really fun to watch him. That will stay with me.”
